Montefalco si presenta come un abitato fortificato da una doppia cinta di mura su cui si aprono cinque porte di accesso; le porte i turtuosi vicoli e le antiche chiese, rimandano ad un atmosfera sospesa nei secoli. Sull' antica piazza circolare si affacciano il Palazzo del Comune (sec.XV), la ex Chiesa di S. Filippo Neri (sec. XVIII) oggi teatro. Completa sintesi della storia e della cultura di montefalco è di Montefalco è il museo di S Francesco.Fuori dalle mura il territorio si caratterizza per una fitta rete di insediamenti che si sono sviluppsti intorno ad antiche fortificazioni. Nel periodo pasquale si svolge la Settimana Enologica, mostra mercato dei vini DOC e DOCG di Montefalco, dei vini umbri e dei vini passiti italiani. In estate si rinnova l'Agosto Montefalchese, rassegna di banchetti, concerti, spettacoli, e cortei in costume storico, che si conclude con la tradizionale "Fuga del bove". A settembre ha luogo la Festa del'Uva, con i carri allegorici della vendemmia, mentre ad ottobre si svolge la "Rassegna di poesia dialettale umbra". |

The Villa is family-run by Mrs Pambuffetti Argantina and her daughter Alessandra with her husband Mauro. During summer evenings, a charming open gallery offers the guest a change to taste typical umbrian specialities, such as olive oil, truffles, legumes...., while sipping the renowed "Sagrantino" wine and listening to a local pianist. Cooking classes by Alessandra are held on request for small groups, classes include the preparation of typical umbrian dishes. The twelve soundproof rooms and three suites all have direct line telephones, line - radio, satellite television, minibar, safe, hair - dryer and of course, en suite bathrooms. Villa Pambuffetti offers reading and living rooms, banquet-hall, meeting rooms, bars. Riding school 3 miles away - Golf-course 20 miles away - S.Egidio Airport 13 miles away. The hill of Montefalco is the highest (743 m.) of the hills found in the valley between Assisi and Spoleto. Montefalco itself is an old fortified city with walls surrounding it and five doors that provide access to the city; the doors, the winding laneways and the ancient churches give the impression of timelessness, of an atmosphere suspended in time. Facing the ancient circular piazza are the old City Buildings and the ex-Church of S. Filippo Neri (XVIII Century) which is today a theatre. There is complete harmony between the history and culture of Montefalco in the Museum of S. Francesco. Outside the city walls the are densely planted fields that have grown up around the ancient fortifications. During the Easter period, the Winetasting Week takes place, with stands and stalls featuring DOC and DOCG wines of Montefalco, Umbrian wines and other Italian wines. Every summer there is the Montelfalco August festival, with stalls, concerts, theatre and traditional costumes which concludes with the traditional "Fuga del Bove". |
