Via Manzoni 29 - 20121 MilanoLa suite reale è stata dedicata a Giuseppe Verdi che qui scelse di soggiornare nel 1872. L'amore dei milanesi per il maestro era tale che il 5 febbraio 1887, dopo la prima di Otello, la carrozza che lo riportava dal teatro alla scala all'hotel, fu staccata dai cavalli e trainata a braccia dalla folla in delirio per la splendida rappresentazione. I cittadini strinsero l'hotel in un "affettuoso assedio", obbligando il maestro ad affacciarsi al balcone del suo appartamento con il tenore tamagno che cantò alcune arie dell'opera. Molti anni dopo, durante i suoi ultimi giorni di vita, Via Manzoni fu cosparsa di paglia affinchè il riposo del maestro non fosse disturbato dal rumore delle carrozze dei cavalli. Verdi si spense in hotel il 27 gennaio 1901. da allora la suite mantiene inalterati gli arredi, le decorazioni originali ed il fascino dei fasti verdiani. Le camere e le suites, tutte differenti, sono arredate con mobili d'epoca amorevolmente restaurati. ciascuna con il suo stile, a volte ottocentesco, liberty o déco. I pavimenti sono in pregiati parquet e le ampie sale da bagno sono state ristrutturate con nobili marmi italiani. Tessuti preziosi, oggetti d'arte e moderno comfort, convivono armoniosamente in questi lussuosi ed accoglienti spazi. Un salotto raffinato ed elegante con un'atmosfera calda ed accogliente. Il posto ideale per un aperitivo, uno spuntino veloce o un brunch domenicale. Particolarmente indicato per colazioni di lavoro o incontri gastronomici nella pausa di mezzogiorno, è caratterizzato da un ambiente luminoso, dove il verde della piazzetta croce rossa ricrea l'atmosfera di un gradevole "giardino d'inverno". Nella bella stagione è possibile pranzare all'aperto. |

Ever since its inauguration way back in 1863, the grand hotel et de milan has been the residence of personalities of national and international renown - Maria Callas, Rudolf Nureyev, Luchino Visconti, Ernest Hemingway, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Enrico Caruso and many others. We especially take pride in recalling the celebrated composer of operas, giuseppe verdi, who stayed at the hotel for several years. He composed some of his operas in the suite at present bearing his name. Its appeal of age-old milanese residences still draws the big names of show business to the hotel.
