Situato sulle Catacombe di Santa Domitilla, questo magnifico castello fu proprietà della Famiglia Reale Savoia e poi del Cardinale de Merode "Ministro delle Armi" del Vaticano nello scorso secolo. La splendida tenuta, che all'inizio dell'800 fu dimora di Marianna di Savoia Duchessa di Chablais, figlia del Re di Sardegna Vittorio Amedeo III e sorella di Carlo Felice, in seguito è passata in eredità alla Famiglia de Villefranche che ne ha restaurato i casali, ha creato il giardino all'Italiana e l'attuale sistemazione del parco. Le stanze sono arredate con cura, con mobili di antiquariato, lampadari di vetro di Murano, tappezzerie fini. Tutte le camere sono differenti: così la Suite dei Fiori ha una deliziosa terrazza piena di fiori che si affaccia sul giardino, la Suite Domitilla ha un bellissimo letto genovese del '600 un'altra ha una vista spettacolare su Porta San Sebastiano. In ognuna comunque si respira l'atmosfera di una residenza preparata per ricevere gli ospiti più colti e raffinati. Situated on the Catacombs of Saint Domitilla, this magnificent castle was owned by the Royal Family Savoia and then of the Cardinal de Merode "Minister of the Weapons" of the Vatican last century. The splendid estate, that was abode of Marianna of Savoia in the beginning of the 1800’s to the Duchess of Chablais, daughter of the King of Sardinia Vittorio Amedeo III and sister of Charles Felice, has passed subsequently in inheritance to the Family de Villefranche that restored the hamlets on it, created the italian style garden and the actual setup of the park.
