Since the beginning of its history, Turkey has been the home of many civilizations including the Seljuks, a tribe from Asia. The Seljuk empire developed a distinctive culture, with especially beautiful architecture and design. Their architecture survived the decline, warfare and instability and continued to flourish long after their sultanate was dissolved. Selcuklu Evi is a fine example of Seljuk architecture. This antique house has been lovingly restored by hand. The local craftsmen of Ürgüp spent two years to complete this restoration. Each block was quarried from the local area and then manually sculptured and leveled before becoming part of Selcuklu Evi. As much of the original house has been preserved although many years of decay and erosion had left limited resources.
